You can’t argue with a closed mind.
The only thing you mentioned that vegetables don’t naturally have is cholesterol. But depending on whether or not you use dairy products in preparation, they might have That, too.

UG, Me Cave man with sharp teeth. Me club animals for food. Someday Me fires responsible for Global Warming. Me not smart enough to forage for plants. Me lucky to live till 30.

OK, not very funny, but eventually meat eaters take Lipitor or stop eating meat at Doctors orders. I’d rather be a healthy 21st Century vegetarian than a cave man….

  3. fancydoll says:

it is a matter of choice girlie, dont bother with all d logic just keep being a veegetarian and allow others to be meat eaters

  4. Barbiq says:

Okay, you want a logical answer. We need to consider where all our food is coming from, who is handling it as well as what has been added, sprayed, and used to enhance it no matter what lifestyle food choices we make today. Face it, in the distant past we lived off of the land in many ways…from gathering fruits, berries, leaves & roots to learning how to make the tools to hunt and process meats & fish. In today’s modern world it is all done for us and it is a mess. We spray pesticides, fertilizers and “breed” seeds to get bigger & better & prettier veggies & grains. We also inject growth hormones for “bigger & meatier” cattle, pigs and chickens….we even farm fish now.

We suffer from more food borne illnesses than not…did you know that there is no real “24 hour flu”? Usually it is a light case of food poisoning? News flash…it isn’t what you just ate…it is what you ate 24 to 72 hours before the symptoms start!! More offten than not it is from something you ate at home as well. How many people know food safety and sanaitation? Much less follow proper food handling procedures in their own homes? People feel “safe” when they use the hand sanitizers…when NOTHING can replace the frequent use of Hot water & SOAP.

It all boils down to common sense and proper portioning as well as lifestyle choices. Both can be good when tempered with good information and good food safety and sanitation. We also need to come up with better ways to enhace our food supply so that it is safe every time for everyone!

You don;t sound like you’re keeping an open mind.

99% of “meat eaters” would not make these arguments. We would say we eat meat because we LIKE eating meat. If it wasn’t natural for us to do it, we wouldn’t enjoy it so much.

But, I would add that LOGICALLy (how silly) we evolved brains that enable tool and weapon making. If humans today had to go out in the wild and make the modern medicines they need to thrive, they would be far more greatly troubled, but I doubt you find medicine offensive or illogical.

As for what we need, it takes significant thought and effort to devise and supply a vegetarian diet that provides an ideal amount and mix of proteins.

As for all those extranious items you mention, who cares? I don’t. LOGICALY, they mean nothing to me.

  7. John S says:

Look we are hunters by nature cause we have the superior brains and know how to do it. Likewise we are veggie eaters and God gave us these to survive on until we get the protein we need in our system.

humans have indeed evolved from hunter-gathererers and there are still tribes existing in new guinea and elsewhere and these people still hunt for food the way our ancestors did…we humans can kill without the use of tools but tools make the job much easier and your statement that “today, if we had to capture, slaughter, and butcher our own meat, most would be unable to do so”. yeah, so whats your point?…we still have butchers, but we also have supermarkets and most of us dont have to do this anymore. THAT is a direct result of evolution! the simple fact is, humans are carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores…that is what makes us the most well adapted species on earth… i say this all the time…mind your own business and leave people alone! if you want to be a vegetarian then be one and if someone else wants to eat a steak, let them…what harm does it do you?…and while your at it, learn a thing or two about evolution…you might be better able to tolerate the differences that come with being human.

but how many vegetarians have the time, space or knowledge how to grow grains and process them so they can use them or beans who has vegetables growing in their apartments

nothing more in life make me happier then tracking a eggplant or a head of iceberg lettuce and putting it down with one shot.
sure the people at the Lion King hate when I come shopping anymore but hey they need my money

and by the way most vegetables have hormones, steroids and other toxins in them so they can grow faster and bigger so the farmer can make more money

    hello wake up good morning
I’m buying sausage biscuits for breakfast today
would you like two or three

I agree with you, I on the other hand respect a persons right to their diet. I am a meat eater, but my wife is a vegetarian. And we work well together in the kitchen to make great dinners together. It’s all about respect.

  11. Lauren R says:

You’re a typical vego (vegetarian). We are unable to make our own clothes by hand (with no tools) and yet we wear them. In history, our ancient ancestors used their abilities and invented and made tools in order to help catch animals to sustain them. They weren’t growing leafy vegetables in the scorching hot temperatures. They all used the tools to get the fur off the animals to make into “clothes” to keep them warm so they wouldn’t freeze to death”. They were very resourceful and weren’t wasteful. If it weren’t for our ancient ancestors we wouldn’t have evolved to how we are today including using our brain (and being able to work out complex problems etc) and our sense of smell, vision and other senses. We didn’t evolve to live on a grain and vegetable diet only. Still the best source of protein whether you would like to hear it or not is meat.
A balanced diet is the best which includes grains, fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy with the occasional treat for a healthy person with regular exercise. Whether certain vegetarians would like to hear it or not, meat is a very important part of our diet.

You mentioned not being equipped with “tools” for hunting. I have never seen a gardener or farmer without tools they were not born with. With all the e-coli and salmonella poisoning lately from non-meat products, these arguments are are on the losing end.

  13. fra59e says:

I used to drive through the Mexicali Valley in Mexico, where a lot of vegetables are grown for the US market. You could see the campesinos laboring in the fields which stretched for miles. Funny thing, though, I never saw a port-a-potty. Hmmmm.

  14. togashiyokuni2001 says:

You call that keeping an open mind? Wow.

The entire ability to use tools is our design. We can hunt because we have the higher cognitive abilities that lower animals don’t have.

We need meat because it has a lot more protein than any vegetable source. Plus, it contains essential fatty acids that also aren’t present in vegetable matter. And urine and fecal matter are not present meat. In fact, in order for it to pass USDA inspection, those things have to be absent. Bleach and peroxide? What kind of vegan propaganda have you been reading? It always kills me how the people who claim to be “open-minded” are the first to degrade and denegrate people for thinking differently from them. You want to be vegetarian or vegan, go right ahead. More steak for me.

  15. pater47 says:

Judging by the wording of your question, I don’t think you really want a logical answer.

Do you really think your vegetables are any safer and purer?
Heard anything lately about E. Coli in spinach? Salmonella in Peanut Butter?

A human’s digestive system is also designed for meats as well as vegetables.

A am a hunter and I grew up on a beef cattle farm. I kill, slaughter, and butcher my own meat on a regular basis, and no, I don’t necessarily always use a gun.

  16. pepper_y2k says:

So do some of the vegetables these days. Look at the recent outbreaks of people getting sick. What did they eat? Produce that had facial matter in it’s system.. Hummmmm
